On the 12th of July, in Sydney, Danieli Centro Recycling, successfully concluded negotiations with Liberty Recycling, and signed a contract for the supply of two 1400 Tonne, side compression shears, for delivery to two sites in Australia, Laverton steel mill in Victoria, and Wacol scrap processing yard in Queensland.
The two shears were manufactured in Danieli’s state of the art facility, Danieli Co., Ltd, Thailand.
Liberty Recycling’s Operations Manager attended our workshops in Thailand to witness the full factory testing of both machines, and commented on the high standard of manufacture and quality control, combined with a hydraulic assembling facility that that is world class.
The first machine was delivered to Laverton steel works in December, and is currently undergoing installation and commissioning, in conjunction with our Danieli Centro Recycling team of Engineers.
The second machine will be delivered in to Wacol in February, with a hot start-up date at the end of February.
The shears have a huge cutting capacity of 1400T, to enable the customer to shear heavy scrap consisting of heavy sections, train rails and billets.
With cutting capacities generated from the 1400 Tonne shear head of 244mm solid round, 216mm solid square and 140mm plate up to 840mm wide, combined with a side compression of 600 Tonnes, a lid force of 600 Tonnes, a clamp force of 400 Tonnes and a longitudinal push of 150 Tonnes, it is no wonder that these Machines have an insatiable appetite for scrap with production rates capable of up to 78 Tonnes per hour, so providing a huge boost for the Liberty steel group in Australia, who currently do not have a side compression shear in their scrap processing arsenal.
